Frequently Asked Questions

Studio Availability Update:

Thank you for your interest in lessons with us! Registration for lessons has now closed as our studio is fully booked.

If you wish to be added to our waiting list, please send us an email to let us know!

What are your rates?

Please refer to our Rates page for complete information.

When can I register for lessons?

Registration for all students begins August 15th, 2023.

Can I trial for lessons before registering?

Yes. We recommend that students commit to booking 2 or 3 weekly lessons before the new term starts on September 11th. If our studio is fully booked, we will let you know and offer you a spot on our waitlist. Feel free to email us to get this process started.

Do you hold student recitals?

Absolutely. Recitals are fun for everyone and are a great opportunity for students to share their music in front of a supportive audience. Recitals are held in January and in June.

Do you also teach voice lessons?

Yes we do! We provide vocal instruction for those interested in developing their singing voice further. Timbral development, breath management, pitch control, and reducing muscle tension are technical areas that are explored in-depth. For more advanced students, we focus on styling, endurance, and elements of public performance.

Do you offer semi-private lessons?

We are thrilled to announce that we now offer semi-private lessons (for piano students only). Our Buddy Lesson program is offered to piano students interested in learning the ins and outs of non-classical, groove-based music. Please visit our Buddy Lessons page for an overview of this program.

Can we take bi-weekly lessons?

Yes! Bi-weekly lessons are particularly great for students who:

  • take lessons that are 45 minutes or longer

  • are at an intermediate or advanced level

  • have clear, specific goals

  • has a weekly practice schedule in place for music

  • do not require weekly check-ins with an instructor

If you are a beginner or are new to taking music lessons, we recommend chatting with us first to see if bi-weekly lessons would be a good fit.

Bi-weekly lessons are booked specifically on Thursdays and Fridays. (Please note that lesson times are subject to our instructor’s availability.)

How do we pay for lessons?

We accept payment via e-transfer and our clients with standing appointments have the option to pay their invoices in full or in two instalments. Please note that lessons must be pre-paid to maintain a standing appointment.

How secure are your lessons?

We take the security of our students and their families very seriously. Our instructors are required to maintain an up-to-date Background Information Check that is vetted by the Calgary Police Association.

The security of personal information is a high priority for Forum School of Music. We maintain this website and all associated data with technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect against loss, unauthorized access, destruction, misuse, modification and improper disclosure.
